1. Prepare for lectures
• Review the previous notes
• Preview the text

2. When in doubt, write it down

3. Go on a diet
• Use abbreviation
• Leave out unimportant words

4. Know your instructor
• Understand your teachers’ lecture style
• Show the notes to teachers early for evaluation

5. Use a good note-taking method
• The Cornell note-taking system

6. Review your notes interactively

7. Type or rewrite your notes
